September 6, 2014 - Mini Reviews and Announcements!
Hey guys! Sorry, I've been away for a little while and with the summer ending, everything is getting pretty chaotic. I still try my best to see some of the latest movies for reviewing but writing reviews takes some time and I often find that I'm in a rush. If I don't write a review for a movie, I still mark down the grade that I gave it so I can compile a decent Top 10 list at the end of the year.
So I decided that I still want to share my opinions with you and talk about movies, I'll try to do more mini-reviews if I can't write a full review. Below are three mini reviews for a few movies that I saw and never wrote a review this year!

LockeLocke is one of the most hyped movies of the year in the world of cinema and film criticism. I thought it was a good film, not particularly great, but it's gimmick (the whole movie taking place in one car ride) is pretty effective. Tom Hardy is great in his role and I found the script pretty engaging. I think I was lead to expect more, though. I wasn't disappointed, really, but it was a tad underwhelming.
FINAL GRADE: B MPAA RATING: R for language throughout |
DivergentDivergent is based off of the popular book by Veronica Roth, and the books are aimed at young adults. To be honest, Divergent surprised me a bit. For a movie running over 2 hours and 22 minutes, I was very entertained. The problem is, it's very similar to many other young adult books. It doesn't really build on the genre and it suffers from serious cheesiness.
FINAL GRADE: B- MPAA RATING: PG-13 for intense violence and action, thematic elements and some sensuality |
